This legacy website is in recognition of the years of vocal instruction & performances as The Sing to the Stars Singers by vocal students of instructor Lilyan Barrett, from 1998-2018 in Ventura (Ca.).
Originally from New York, Lilyan has performed at the Hollywood Bowl and recorded on a number of recordings with Capital Records and other LA-area production companies during the ’60’s & ’70s, as a demo singer and with background choirs. She studied privately while in New York with instructors from the Julliard School of Music, before embarking on her professional singing career.
The Sing to the Stars singers performed annually at the Ventura County Fair & other special events until 2015, and have performed numerous times on local television. Her students have been cast in leading roles in major musical productions, including Ventura College Theater’s production of West Side Story (2002) when her student Daniella Flores was cast as Maria. 2 other students Marcel Hernandez & Dr. Bill Stewart won 1st Place in a national Karaoke competition. Mrs. Barrett also worked with pre-teens, while helping older students prepare for auditions & speaking engagements.
At this site you’ll be able to enjoy a variety of student performances on stage and in television specials. All of the video production work as well as wardrobe, prop & set design (incl. singing puppets) are the work of Lilyan’s extremely-talented son Robert, who has also developed this website and is caring for his mother in her retirement years.
To be part of Lilyan’s social media group, please visit her Facebook page under the ‘Sing to the Stars Vocalists, Students & Alumni Chat Group. It brings her great pleasure when she hears from her former students, parents or others who can just appreciate her work with our talented young people.
